My name is Evan.
I got started dabbling in magic the way a lot of kids did when I was growing up…
… I saw David Blaine on TV.
I know, I know. Total cliche’.
But I was absolutely captivated. I had never seen “street magic,” or impossible looking illusions performed with every day stuff inches in front of people’s faces.
I was around 13 years old when I got started on my journey to learn as much as I could about the art of magic.
I fell particularly hard for card magic. It was amazing to me that I could carry around something as simple as a deck of cards in my pocket and ‘Wow’ people at a moment’s notice.
I’ve studied and practiced on and off ever since, mostly just performing for my friends, family, and now my 4-year-old daughter and her friends.
I’ve taught magic at summer camps, performed impromptu shows for kids out in the world, and broken out some of my favorite effects at parties over the years.
I’m no professional, but I wanted to create Ambitious With Cards to share what I’ve learned, along with my absolute love for card magic, with all of you.
I’m also a professional writer and journalist with a B.S. from Towson University. My work has appeared places like:
- Huffington Post
- And more
(And P.S. – This isn’t an exposure site. I’m not here to give away the secrets to the latest David Blaine trick or Copperfield illusion… as if I even knew them!
But if you’re looking to take magic seriously as a hobby, or maybe one day a profession, I want to do my best to help you learn and get started.)
